Ten descendents of the Dahlgren immigrants of 1883 returned to their Yttermalung, Sweden homestead in August 1999, met a dozen relatives and friends and attained a lifetime of family ties, ancestral links and feelings of fulfillment on behalf of Haga Nels and Kerstin Dahlgren, our common ancestors.
The travelers were Thelma Hagen, DeEtta and Ralph Pettyjohn, John Dahlgren, Isabel Brandt, Dave Hagen, Pat Hughes, Anne Campbell, Karen Brand and Nancy Brandt.
The relatives & friends that hosted us so generously during this 'once in a lifetime' trip included Arfs Jan Olsson (main guide and interpreter), Arfs Karin Olsson, Olle Olsson, Annabrita & Bengt Gabrils, Lennart Dölhed, Iris Larsson, Anders Rosen, Erik & Brita Rosen and a number of others that we appologize to for omitting here. Their food and the fellowship will provide warm memories for more than a lifetime because we'll pass our thoughts on to our next generations.
In addition to our own photographic memories, we were given photographs, recipes, books, family history charts and continual knowledge of how our ancestors and their local descendents lived and prospered in this fabulous land.
